The theatre building started life as a stable block, attached to Stanley Villas on Albert Road. It comprised harness rooms, stalls, coach house and recreation room.
If you look closely, some of the original features remain.
The Theatre
It was bought at auction by Colne Dramatic Society in November 1945 to be the group's permanent home.
Following substantial redevelopment, the new theatre was opened on September 3rd 1949
The first performances were presented on Sat 3rd, Tues 6th and Thurs 8th Sept 1949.
