CDS was formed in 1926 when a group of people proposed a dramatic society for the town of Colne.

A room was used in the United Congregational Church, North Valley, and plans were laid for the formation of a society.
On October 3rd 1926, the new Colne Dramatic Society was born.
Within 4 years of existence, we were playing to full houses at the Municipal Hall.

In 1932, a permanent rehearsal home was found over Mitton's Garage in Newtown.
